Consolidating the NCCR Microbiomes community

The NCCR Microbiomes team continues to grow! Over the past 8 months, 21 PhD students, 25 postdocs and 2 group leaders have joined the NCCR Microbiomes. Collaborations between groups and across Work Packages have been established: different NCCR groups have organised joint group meetings or invited researchers from other NCCR labs to learn new techniques. Many NCCR members spontaneously participate in WP meetings different from their own, and our Slack channel becomes busier and livelier with every week. We are excited to see these collaborations shape up and encourage you all to continue reaching out.

However, for more than a year the Covid pandemic has switched our lives to an online mode, and we all long to finally meet each other live. Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for 10-11 June 2021, with our first Retreat taking place on 9 June. Much as we look forward to these events, we cannot be sure that we will be able to celebrate them in the way we had planned, but we are working on possible formats that allow us to meet in person. We will keep you updated. In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, and keep collaborating!
