NCCR Microbiomes Equal Opportunities

The NCCR Microbiomes is strongly committed to promote equal opportunities among its members and to oppose any discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, biological age, etc. All NCCR members adhere to our general chart of conduct, which emphasizes this commitment.

The NCCR implements family-friendly measures, such as part-time and flexible working hours for postdocs and PhD students with child-care duties, child-care support during conferences, and meeting times during regular working hours. Furthermore, we back integration measures from the SNSF, such as flexibility and equality grants, and encourage the participation of the members of the NCCR in the strong equal opportunities schemes of the host universities.

One of the ambitions of the NCCR is to foster the career development of young scientists. We especially aim to increase the representation of female researchers within the NCCR at all career stages. Several measures, also in partnership with other institutions and NCCRs, will be put in place to accomplish these objectives.

The conferences organized and supported by the NCCR Microbiomes will aim for equal representation of male and female researchers.

The NCCR Microbiomes co-organises the #NCCRWomen campaign: in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of women obtaining the right to vote in Switzerland, all NCCRs join forces to produce a series of films highlighting the key role that women researchers play in all fields of research in Switzerland. The NCCR Microbiomes is honoured to open this campaign on 8 March 2021, International Women’s Day.
