Andrea Carminati on the rhizosphere’s architecture and biological hotspots

On September 1st 2026, the NCCR Microbiomes Seminar Series is pleased to welcome Andrea Carminati, Professor at the Department of Environmental Systems Science at the ETH Zurich.
Prof. Andrea Carminati’s research explores soil physics and plant water relations, with a strong focus on how roots extract water from drying soils, how plants regulate transpiration under drought, and how soil–root hydraulics shape responses to water limitation. His group also studies the rhizosphere and the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum to better understand water flow across scales.
Andrea Carminati will give a talk titled “Biohydrology of the root-soil interface”. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 1 September 2026, from 12h00 to 13h00 CEST.
