The first NCCR Microbiomes Exchange Day took place on 23 February 2021. The online event offered a platform for all interested PhD students and postdocs to meet and chat in a relaxed atmosphere. For this first meeting, we got together in the 2D virtual world of gather.town, where an extended poster session allowed us to discover what each of us is working on – and who hikes, cooks or plays an instrument. The afternoon was rounded up with a quiz that tested our participants’ knowledge in topics ranging from microbiology to history of science. Congratulations again to our winning team: Yangji Choi (CHUV), Melanie Stäubli (ETHZ), Daniel Weilandt (EPFL) and Audam Chhun (UNIL), who will soon receive their prize per post.
