Laurent Philippot on soil microbial ecology and ecosystem functions

On May 5th 2026, the NCCR Microbiomes Seminar Series is pleased to welcome Laurent Philippot Research Director at INRAE and Deputy Director of UMR Agroécologie, Dijon.

Dr. Laurent Philippot’s research focuses on soil microbial ecology, with a particular interest in how microbial communities drive nitrogen cycling, ecosystem functioning, and agricultural sustainability. He has contributed to several large-scale European and international projects, including TRACE-Soils, MICROSERVICES, and SOILGUARD. He also coordinates initiatives such as HARMI (Harnessing Microbiomes for Sustainable Development), which bring together diverse scientific disciplines to explore the potential of microbiomes across agriculture, environmental systems, health, and food.

Laurent Philippot will give a talk titled “Microbial interactions beneath our feet“. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 5 May 2026, from 12h00 to 13h00 CEST.
