Markus Jeschek on synthetic biology and microbiome engineering

On April 7th 2026, the NCCR Microbiomes Seminar Series is pleased to welcome Markus Jeschek Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Lonza Chair in Sustainable Biosynthesis and leader of the Laboratory of Synthetic and Applied Microbiology (LSAM).

Prof. Jeschek is a synthetic biologist specialising in data-driven engineering of microbes and enzymes, using high-throughput experimentation, DNA-recording technologies, and machine learning to decode sequence-function relationships and enable rational design of biological systems for sustainable bioproduction.

Markus Jeschek will give a talk titled “High-throughput meets AI – Data-driven engineering of synthetic microbes“. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 7 April 2026, from 12h00 to 13h00 CEST.

Note on access: Due to a recent change in our seminar platform, the conference link will be shared here soon. Please check back one week before the seminar. No registration required; the talk is open to all.
