We are surrounded by a world incredibly small and immeasurably vast. Invisible to us, yet of the utmost importance. It is the realm of microorganisms. With their sheer infinite numbers and diversity, and largely still unexplored, they are the origin of life and the catalysts of almost all existing life processes. They form communities that are essential to the functioning of all ecosystems. From the soil to the oceans, through the air and plants, right into the human body.
