Jan Roelof van der Meer, NCCR Microbiomes Director, has been appointed to the newly established Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science – CeMESS, at the University of Vienna.

The SAB recently paid its inaugural visit to CeMESS, bringing together members for two days of presentations and discussion. The newly-appointed board comprises:
Beate Escher (UFZ Leipzig) – Professor of Environmental Toxicology
Kirsten Küsel (Friedrich Schiller University Jena) – Professor of Aquatic Geomicrobiology
Jan Roelof van der Meer (Université de Lausanne) – Professor of Environmental Microbiology
Matthias Rillig (Freie Universität Berlin) – Professor of Plant Ecology

We warmly congratulate Professor van der Meer on this appointment, which recognises their engagement for advancements in environmental microbiology. We look forward to the insights and perspectives that will emerge from CeMESS’s activities and to potential exchanges with NCCR Microbiomes’ own research community.
