Julia Vorholt awarded the Novonesis Biotechnology Prize 2025

This month, Julia Vorholt, NCCR Co-Director and Professor of Microbiology at ETH Zurich, has been awarded the 2025 Novonesis Biotechnology Prize by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

The Novonesis Biotechnology Prize recognises outstanding research or technological contributions that benefit the development of biotechnological science for innovative solutions, and aims to raise awareness of basic and applied biotechnology research.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation praised Julia Vorholt for changing how we think about plant health. Her work on plant-microbiome interactions and plant immunity has opened new avenues for research and applications, with potential to improve crop health and productivity for a more sustainable agriculture.

The award ceremony will take place in April in Copenhagen, Denmark.
