Bacttle is a unique educational board game played from the point of view of bacteria!

In Bacttle, you play as a bacterial species trying to survive in nature. The board represents the environment and each token is a member of your species. Your goal is to populate the board with as many tokens of your color as possible, and avoid extinction!
Bacttle can be downloaded free of charge at this link and printed at home. Physical copies are available for purchase from the Musée de la main in Lausanne during the duration of the exhibition INVISIBLES. La vie cachée des microbes.
Each turn, a challenge is revealed.
Negative challenges threaten your life while positive challenges allow you to multiply.

You will always have four trait cards in your hand.
Each turn you can play one, to defend yourself or to benefit from the environment.

Bacttle was developed as part of NCCR Microbiomes researcher Tania Miguel Trabajo’s PhD thesis in Microbiology, with illustrations by Philippe Piccardi.
The educational component of the game were tested with more than 150 players; Bacttle has been proven to teach microbiology, in a fun way!
